Homemade Laundry Soap
YOU WILL NEED:
A very large pot
A whisk or a mixer
A cheese grater
1 bar Fels Naptha soap
1 1/2 cups of Mule team Borax
1 1/2 cups of Arm & Hammer Super washing soda
Grate the bar soap into a bowl. Pour the grated soap into the pot and add 12 cups of water. Cook and stir until boiling and the grated soap dissolves. Add the Borax and Washing soda, stir until dissolved, remove from heat. Put 8 cups of HOT water into a 5 gallon bucket and then add the soap mixture, stir well. Add 2 gallons and 12 cups of water and stir well again. Let the mixture set for 24 hours and it will kind of jell, like egg drop soup. Use a whisk or mixer to make it smooth again (can use a paint mixer attached to a drill). This makes around 4 gallons of laundry soap. You will have enough Borax and Washing soda left for a few more batches, all you have to buy is the Fels Naptha bar. If you have an extra dirty load, let it soak for 1/2 hour before completing the wash cycle.
Here is a few pictures and prices of the items needed which you can purchase a Walmart.
Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda costs around $3.45.
20 Mule Team Borax Costs around $3.50
The Fels-Naptha bar soap costs $.97.
I have been using this homemade laundry soap for over a year now and it has saved me over $200. Hope it does as well for you.
