OxiClean(TM) 2in1 Stain Fighter Liquid

OxiClean(TM) 2in1 Stain Fighter Liquid
I can't believe how amazingly well this did on my kids clothes. I received it from Smiley360. This was a great mission with the one of the best products that I have tried yet. It brightened my kids clothes which were dingy from being worn so much. I would give this product a 5 and recommend it to everyone.

9 Reasons to Begin Preparing for an Emergency

1. Job Loss

One of the most unexpected or sometimes expected emergencies that our families face that are ours, alone, is a job loss. If you’re a one income family, the loss of the income can be devastating if it is for an extended amount of time. Even for some families living paycheck to paycheck or less, that devastation can be almost immediate. Being prepared with a supply of food, water, money in the bank, and supplies can help you ride the time period between jobs.

2. Illness/Injury in the Family

Not only for a small emergency like an accident at home that needs some first aid, a reason to perform CPR on someone who has collapsed, to an extended sickness in the family that may mean you can’t get to the grocery store all the time. We need to have a supply of first aid items in our homes that extends beyond a box of band-aids. It’s also important to have some first aid / CPR training. Not only for our families in our homes, but if we’re out and about – we can be the first responder! If you are suffering through a short-term, family-wide bout with a rotovirus, or are living with a family member who is in a long-term illness situation, having a basic pantry and treatment system helps take some of the pressure off the family about who is going to the store next to get meds or Pedialyte or throwing something on the table so the kids can eat while you’re still incapacitated.

3. Car Emergency

If your tire blows on your car on the side of a dark, deep woods road, what are you going to do? What happens if you get stuck in a blizzard on the way home you didn’t expect? What if you run out of gas in the middle of a deserted stretch of road. Having your car prepared for an emergency with needed equipment, and a box of items to help you through until help arrives or you can get out is necessary.

4. Weather Emergency

Weather emergencies aren’t relegated to a Hurricane on the East Coast or a snowstorm that takes out a region. Weather disasters happen all over the world at all times of the year. You don’t need to worry about preparing for a hurricane if you live in Oklahoma, but in Oklahoma, you DO need to prepare for a tornado, an ice storm, a snow storm, or a drought.

5. Natural Disaster

Natural disasters can effect entire regions and cause huge loss of life and property. One of the biggest things we should be prepared for in these situations is an evacuation. Are you prepared to walk away from your home with an hour’s notice in the case of fast approaching wildfire, or have a plan if your home is destroyed by an earthquake? Do you know what documents to grab, do you have a list of items in your boxes that take, are you prepared with a simple escape plan from your home?

6. Local & Regional Emergency

Train derailments, power outages, water main breaks, and chemical spills are all things that can disrupt city services for days on end, which may leave you without the ability to go to the store, have clean water, or be safe. Do you have water stored in your home, or a plan on how to quickly store water in an emergency?

7. Economic Collapse/sag

When the ‘recession’ hit in 2009-2010, many families were caught off guard at the soaring prices, the change in consumer spending, and even the ability to keep paying on a home you thought you could afford. What happens when there is an even larger collapse of the economy – do you have food and water and means to grow your own food?

8. War

Most of us in the United States don’t really have a concept of what war is like, especially if we haven’t served in the military or have lived abroad in war regions. We might know what war looks like in 20 second snippets on the news and photos in a newspaper, or from stories we’ve heard from family members. We just have no concept of what living through war is like, and I bet few of us think that it will ever actually happen here.

9. Your Family.

If nothing else, look to your spouse and your children. Whether your preparedness is all encompassing in a bunker in Idaho completely off the grid to making sure you have 3-4 days of food in your pantry, your family should be the driving force about why you prepare. It’s your responsibility as a Mom or a Dad or a Caregiver to make sure that you can handle whatever life throws at you to the best of your ability.

Emergency Pet Kits

Gathering Supplies
Pet kits will vary based on what type of animal you have. To simplify this process this kit will be suitable for dogs and cats.

-Food: First on the list is food for your pet. This is very important. Don’t think that you’ll just feed your pet some of your food. Not only will this tap into your supply but a combo of human food and a stressful environment can cause your dog or cat to have an upset stomach, resulting in dehydration. Pack whichever food your animal is currently eating.

-Water: Just like with humans, clean water is nearly as important as food. Unlike with the food, you can give your pets the same water you are drinking. Calculate approximately how much your pet or pets will consume and add that to the supply. Don’t forget a bowl!

-Confinement: You need some sort of confinement for your pet or restraint. Most dogs will simply need a well-fitting collar or harness and a leash. Cats and smaller dogs may need a crate or carrier of some sort. Whichever way you go, make sure it is escape-proof as possible. The last thing you need in a survival situation is your dog to slip its collar and run off exploring. You may also want to pack an extra long lead for tying your dog up if you’ll be leaving your home and camping out.

-Identification and Documentation: Your dog should ideally have an ID tag with some way for people to contact you. Cellphone numbers or addresses work well. You may want to do this for your cat as well in case they get out of their carrier. Carry a photo with you of your pets so that in the event one gets loose people know what to look for. As for documentation, you should have your vet records on hand. This helps verify ownership and prove your pet is properly vaccinated.

-Medication: As with humans, have extra medication for your pet on hand in case you are unable to get a new prescription for some time.

-First-Aid Kit: You can have a pet specific first-aid kit or combine it with your own first-aid kit. Just be sure you mark the pet supplies separate.

The above supplies are the base basics of what you should have in your emergency pet kit. Other things to think about are pet waste bags, wet wipes, toys or some type of bedding that is familiar to your animal (reduces stress), and maybe a backpack for larger dogs. When planning transport and shelter you’ll need to include your pet in your plans as well.

10 Food Items to Always Have In Storage

Whether you are bracing for a potential natural disaster or simply readying yourself for a hungry toddler, having these 10 food items always on hand will make your life easier and your house a little bit more self sustaining.

1. Honey
The best thing about honey is that it never goes bad. It can actually withstand broad temperature variations, and you can use it to sweeten just about anything. If it crystallizes, just reheat it, and it’s good as new.

2. Sugar, Salt, & Pepper
Although these items can cake up, they won’t go bad. Plus, you can use them to flavor absolutely anything. The best part is that in a pinch (get it? A pinch?) you can use salt for curing and medicinally.

3. Nuts, Nut Butter, and Trail Mixes
We always try to have trail mix on hand in my house because it is a fantastic source of protein and fat. You don’t have to refrigerate it, and it’s a good source of healthy energy too.

4. Canned Meat
You can get canned tuna, chicken, salmon, and turkey. Although they are not the healthiest choices and do expire eventually, they are excellent if you really need them.

5. Bottled Water
Sure it’s more of a beverage than a food item, but you still need about 1 gallon per person per day both for drinking and to help you maintain proper hygiene.

6. Rice and Pastas
Rice and pasta are both great sources of carbohydrates. They are really easy to prepare and have a very long shelf life.

7. Canned Fruit & Vegetables
Similar to canned meat, these are not always the healthiest choice because they have a lot of added sugar. However, you can them alongside of meat to create a well balanced meal and get much needed vitamins and minerals in your diet.

8. Flour and Dried Grains
Oatmeal, wheat, and cornmeal can all be used for baking. They are easy to prepare and contain may essential nutrients that your body needs.

9. Dried Milk
Dried milk is actually not as bad as it sounds, and it works really well if you can’t get fresh milk. It has a long shelf life and can be used to drink or in baking.

10. Powdered Coffee, Tea, and Cocoa
These have always been staples in people’s kitchens. After all, how many people do you know who can barely start the day without their cup of coffee? They don’t provide much nutritional value, but the psychological impact is important too!

Of course, if you want to be fully prepared, don’t forget to stock a can opener, a small camping stove, and emergency food for your pets as well just in case you need it.

Love's Return update

I am now working on chapter 8 and the story is going well. I have changed the title a bit, it's now called Love's Return: The Return of Lost Memories. I have also decided to make it into a trilogy so that I can concentrate on the aspects of the books that need to be concentrated on. I hope that once I get it done, I will be able to actually get it published. Thanks for all your support.

My Garden This Year

My garden this year is doing outstanding. I never thought that anything would work in this horrible ground do I tried something a little different. I made a raised bed garden. I planted bean, tomatoes, cucumbers and watermelon and to my delight they are growing like crazy. Here's a few pictures of it now.
 These are the cucumbers.
These are the tomatoes. You can also see where the beans are going up the fence and the watermelon has overgrown the bed and out in the walkway.
Further away picture of the cucumbers where you can see they are climbing up the fence.
Close up picture of the tomatoes.

 Shows the watermelon plants.
This is one of my beans. It is actually as long as my hand.

Love's Return Update

Well, to let everyone know, I am now half way through chapter 5 of my book. I'm sorry I have taken such a long time off from posting. With the kids out of school for the summer, all the stuff I have to do around the house and writing the book as well, I've been pretty busy. I wanted to let all of you know that I'm still here. Thanks for all your support.

How to Survive Doomsday Part 10

Education:

My final point is probably the most important. You need to educate yourself on all the skills that you don't have. Take action on this point now. If you don’t you may find that you don’t have any time left and you will regret the time you have wasted. Take yourself to a quiet place with a pad, a pen and a drink of something that you like and make yourself a list of everything that you need to learn to survive post doomsday. This may include something as simple as learning to cook.

There are numerous courses that you should take; a basic survival course for one, a firearms course for another, but probably the most essential is a first aid course. You need to know how to treat injuries when and if they occur.

Knowledge will be the most valuable commodity post doomsday. The person who has the most relevant knowledge and then applies it, is the person that will survive. Take the time now, to ensure that person is you.

How to Survive Doomsday Part 9

Weapons:

This is a sensitive subject for many, however you need to embrace weapons if you hope to survive long term post doomsday. You will need weapons for hunting. The food you have stored will eventually run out and you will have to hunt for meat and fish. You might want to learn about snares, traps and driving deer into pits. All skills are useful. However, it is far easier to hunt with weapons.

Fishing is the easiest method of “hunting.” Since your location will be close to water, there will either be fish in the stream close by or you can follow the water downstream to where there is a supply. Since you aren’t doing this for recreation or sport, use a net. Stretch your net across the stream and drag downstream, that way you are more likely to maximize your catch.

When it is time to hunt for meat you will need a gun, a crossbow or a bow and arrow. A crossbow can be a useful, powerful weapon but in many countries they are actually banned so getting some pre-doomsday practice in is going to be tricky. A bow and arrow is probably going to be a waste of your time, the time it will take to master the technique isn’t worth it. To be honest the only weapon worth your time and effort is a gun. A hunting rifle of some type is best. The best course of action is to get some education down at a local gun club. Take the time to learn how to shoot with some degree of professionalism before you need the skills. Go on hunting trips with experienced hunters and learn the skills now. One gun isn’t going to be sufficient, you need a range of guns. In addition to hunting rifles you might want to have a shotgun or even pistols.

Love's Return

Welcome to the title of the book I'm writing. I am currently working on chapter 3 and all seems to be going well. I will give a small lowdown of what the book is about. The two main characters are reincarnated into present day after dying a horrific death at Pearl Harbor, but they don't know that they are the same people. That's all you get, the rest you will have to find out when I'm done and hopefully published. Thanks to all my family and friends that are being so supportive in my endeavor to finally followed my number 1 biggest dream. I have nothing but love for all of you.

P.S. Don't worry, I will get back to giving out survival and prepping information, gardening and various other info soon. Maybe in the next couple of days!!!

Pennington Smart Feed Sprayer System

I was sent the Pennington Smart Feed Sprayer System from BzzAgent. I love it. It is the perfect way to fertilize your garden and flowers. After putting topsoil in my raised bed gardens and mixing compost with it, I planted my seeds in my garden. I waited a few days and then used the sprayer system. I couldn't believe that within just a couple of days all my plants were starting to grow. I also bought some rose bushes and did the same thing with them. Within a week all the roses are starting to bloom and look amazing. The sprayer itself cost around $13.00. Not a bad price all in all. There are also three different types of fertilizer that you can buy with it. All-Purpose, Tomato and Vegetable, and Flowers and Bloom. These cost around $10.00 for 4 tablets, but the tablets cover 300 sq ft each. I would recommend this system to anyone.

These are my rose bushes before Pennington SmartFeed Sprayer System.
These are my rose bushes after the Pennington SmartFeed Sprayer System.

Keep the Love Affair with your Clothes Going with Woolite!

I was sent these samples from Crowdtap. A wonderful company that you can make gift cards and sometimes you can get parties that you can host. I was chosen to give out samples of Woolite Everyday. I love this laundry soap. It made my clothes continue to look new and made them smell good as well. I highly recommend this product to anyone and everyone. I will certainly be purchasing this myself from now on.

Everyday Homemade Products for All Kinds of Things

Most people are watching their dollars and working off a budget to make ends meet. Many are also now looking for natural alternatives to live a more wholesome and chemical free life. Following are a few ways in which you can have both of the above. These uses are becoming more prevalent and are easy to do it yourself. So, here are great easy uses for common household items to make your life more chemical free and your wallet a little fatter. SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS!!

1) Toothpaste: Buff a CD/DVD
Apply toothpaste to a cotton ball and wipe the disc. Wash with water afterwards and you’ve got a brand new disc!

2) Cornstarch: Untangle Knots
Sprinkling cornstarch into tough knots, such as shoe laces helps loosen them.

3) Walnut: Buff Dings out of Wood Furniture
Get rid of unsightly scratches and dings on wood furniture by rubbing a walnut on the areas. The blemishes will vanish quickly and your furniture and pocket book will be saved.

4) Club Soda: Make Your Breads Fluffier
When baking, where recipes call for water, add club soda instead to make pancakes, waffles and any other breads fluffier.

5) Salt: Keep Windows Frost Free
Pour a cup of salt into a liter of water. Sponge the liquid onto the inside of window to prevent frost from forming during the winter months.

6) Rubbing Alcohol: Remove Permanent Marker
Dab the surface that has the permanent marker on it with a cloth or cotton ball covered in rubbing alcohol to make it disappear quickly.

7) Chap stick: Stops Bleeding When Nicked Shaving
Cut yourself shaving? Just swipe some chap stick over the cut to stop that constant bleeding. No more tissue squares!

8) Apple Juice: Removes Dandruff
Don’t ask how it works, but it does! Instead of buying a special shampoo, just wash your hair in apple juice to rid your scalp of pesky dandruff.

9) Aspirin: Get Rid of Armpit Stains on T-Shirts
Grind up an aspirin tablet or two, then make a paste out of it using water, lemon or vinegar. Spread the paste on the stained area and let sit for an hour before washing.

10) Olive Oil: Make Pets’ Coat Shinier
Add a bit of olive oil to your pet’s food to give them a healthier, shinier coat of fur.

11) Newspapers: Clean Windows and Mirrors
Instead of using a spray and a streaky cloth, use only newspaper to clean off your mirrors and windows for a streak-free finish.

12) Baking Soda: Remove Bugs from Windshield
Mix baking soda with warm water to make a paste. Spread the paste over your windshield for fifteen minutes. Then wipe or spray off with a hose.

13) Bleach: Extend Life of Flowers in Vase
Add a few drops of bleach to vase water to prevent the build-up of the slime caused by bacteria. It works just like chlorine in a swimming pool.

14) Kitchen Dish Soap: Flea-Killing Dog Shampoo
Kitchen dish soap (not dish detergent) can double as dog shampoo for its flea killing abilities.

15) Coke: Remove Blood Stains from Clothing
Soak the stain in coke until the stain is dissolved, then wash the clothing as usual. Wash before the coke dries, though.

16) Honey: Remove Blemish Overnight
Have a blemish you need to get rid of by tomorrow? Put a dab of honey on the blemish and cover it up (it’s best to use a Band-Aid) and the honey’s natural antibacterial properties will clean out the bacteria by the morning.

17) Wax Paper: Clean Can Opener Gears
Run a few small strips of wax paper through the can opener to clean out of the bits and pieces that have built up in the gears throughout the year. The wax will also rub off on the gears to protect for future use as well.

18) WD-40: Remove Crayons from Walls
Use the lubricant and a cloth to remove stubborn crayon marks from the walls just by spraying the wall and wiping with a cloth.

19) Chalk: Keep Ants and Slugs Out of the House
Ants and Slugs Won’t Touch Chalk. So, simply draw a line in front of your doorway where you are having problems with these pesky critters and they won’t cross it, meaning they won’t be able to get into your house.

20) Vinegar: Kills Weeds and Helps Flowers Grow
Vinegar is a magic wonder when it comes to gardening. It not only kills weeds but they help flowers grow as well. Douse vinegar all around your garden to prevent weeds from popping up and to help your flowers to grow healthy and strong.

21) Mayonnaise: Remove Bumper Sticker
Spread mayonnaise on the bumper sticker and let sit for at least thirty minutes. Then, rub the sticker off with a towel, leaving a clean bumper!

22) Tin Foil Ball: Replace Dryer Sheets Permanently
Instead of using a dryer sheet ball up one or a few sheets of tin foil and toss it in the dryer. It removes the static electricity from your clothes and one can last up to a year.

23) Banana Peel: Polish Leather Shoes
Use the inside of a banana peel to give shoes a professional and natural shine that will last for quite some time.

24) Mouthwash: Cure Athlete’s Foot
Pour mouthwash on cotton balls and then swab your feet. The alcohol will disinfect the bacteria completely if you continue this for a week or so.

25) Baking Soda: Clean BBQ Grill
Mix a cup of baking soda with half a cup water to make a paste. Dip your brush into the paste and scrub the grill. The caked on pieces and black residue will come off much quicker and using baking soda is much safer and cheaper than using cleaning chemicals.

26) Coffee Grounds: Fertilizer
Coffee is full of nutrients and vitamins that are very beneficial to soil. That’s why some people include it in compost piles. If you want to get the most out of your coffee, pour the grounds on areas where you want more grass or flowers.

27) Olive Oil: Shaving Cream
The smoothness of the oil can replace the need for shaving cream, and it also provides great moisture.

28) Dryer Sheets: Gets Rid of Static Electricity
Use dryer sheets to remove static electricity from things such as clothing, TV screens or your own hair. Tame fly away strands by running a dryer sheet over them.

29) Freezer: Freeze Candles to Make Them Last Longer
Put candles in the freezer for at least 2 hours before using. Once you burn them, the wax will melt at a much slower pace, making them last much longer!

30) Two glasses of water: Cure Headache
Water is the cure to most common headaches. To make the headache go away quickly, drink two cups of water very quickly.

31) Lemons: Deodorize Garbage Disposal
Toss whole slices of lemon into the garbage disposal then run it. The acidity of the lemon will rid your sink of all odors and leave a fresh scent that usually lasts for a few months.

32) Alka Seltzer: Remove Burnt-On Grease and Food Stains
When letting your pots and pans soak, throw in one or two Alka Seltzer tablets and the caked on residue from cooking will come off easily when you scrub/wash.

33) Apple Cider Vinegar: Relieve Diarrhea
Mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar into eight ounces of water to soothe your stomach. The taste may not be the greatest, but the antibacterial properties of the vinegar will end the unpleasantness of the bowel problems.

34) Toothpaste: Remove Scratches from Glass
Apply toothpaste to scratch, then rub with a cloth until the scratch is gone. Make sure the glass is clean beforehand.

35) Cheerios: Relieve Pain from Poison Ivy, Chickenpox and Sunburns
Pound one to four cups of Cheerios into a powder and add to your bath to soothe your skin while you soak. You may not feel relief while in the tub, but you will soon after.

36) Buttons: Sort Earrings
Organize your earrings and prevent them from becoming entangled by using spare buttons as holders for each pair.

37) Corn Oil: Prevent Hairballs for Pets
Add a few drops of corn oil to your pets’ food to prevent hairballs from forming. The thick oil helps the fur pass through the animal’s system much quicker and easily.

38) Whipped Cream: Remove Gum from Hair
There are many remedies for removing gum from hair, but this is a lesser known one. Give it a try rather than peanut butter the next time you’re in need.

39) Coke: Remove Oil Stains from the Driveway
Oil stains are very difficult to remove pavement, but one method guaranteed to work is Coke. The highly acidic drink will eat away at the oil until clean.

40) Brown Sugar: Facial Scrub
A scrub is good to do about once a month to remove dead skin and bacteria built up in pores and remove excess oil from the skin. Brown sugar does just as well as expensive products and will definitely result in a clearer and smoother complexion.

41) Dryer Sheet: Lint Brush
You already know that dryer sheets remove lint in the dryer. Well, it can do the same thing out of the dryer, too. When you’re in a fix, use a dryer sheet. It works just as well as a lint brush, and if you like the scent, it’s an added bonus.

42) Newspaper: Deodorize food containers and Food Drawers in the Refrigerator
For that stinky Tupperware or smelly refrigerator drawer that is too much to deal with, toss in a sheet of newspaper overnight before you deal with it. The paper will absorb the smell greatly reducing it or eliminating it completely.

43) Olive Oil: Unstick a Zipper
The oil will help the zipper slide more easily, fixing the problem!

44) Salt: Cool Something Quickly
You know that feeling when you’re having a BBQ and someone asks for a drink and you realize that no one has put them in the cooler? There’s nothing worse than a warm drink on a hot day. Chill a drink quickly, by adding salt and water to your ice. The drinks will be cold in a matter of minutes; saving your party and making you look smart all at once.

45) Scotch Tape: Prevent Wall from Chipping When Nailing
The wall can leave unsightly chips when hammering in a nail. Prevent this by simply placing a piece of scotch tape over the area you’re going to nail. The wall will be held tighter, preventing chips from occurring.

46) Alka Seltzer: Soothe Insect Bites
Dissolve two tablets into a glass of water. Then use a cloth or cotton ball to apply it to the affected area. The red will go down and most importantly, the itchiness will vanish usually in fifteen minutes.

47) Lemon: Whitens Whites
Add about half a cup of lemon juice to your load of whites to makes them extra white. You can use lemon juice with bleach or detergent, so don’t worry about mixing chemicals with the acidic lemon.

48) Banana Peel: Whiten Teeth
This may sound a little odd, but rub the inside of a banana peel on your teeth twice a day for two weeks and you will receive the same effect from a teeth-whitening kit. Plus, you’ll save yourself money and the hassle of using chemicals.

49) Hair Dryer: Free Photos Stuck on Pages
If you have a photo stuck on a page that you can’t get free, try using a blow dryer on the back of the page. It will loosen the photo from the page and the adhesive holding it there.

50) Banana Peel: Heal Most Skin Problems
Bananas are the magical fruit, because they heal many common problems on the skin. By rubbing the peel on your skin, you can heal bruises and cuts and eliminate rashes, itching and warts. Basically if you have a common skin problem, it can be cured by this fruit.

How to Survive Doomsday Part 8

Communications:

In the event of a doomsday event occurring, our modern communication devices will more than likely be useless.

In truth, it depends on the event. If the event is a health pandemic, then most likely everything will still work. A massive solar flare however, will wipe all those things out. Cell phones will be the first to disappear, so assume you won't have them. The same for the internet. For most younger people, this will be one of the biggest adjustments.

Radio is likely to survive longer than anything. Battery powered or wind - up will be good, and you will need to have at least two. That way you can monitor a range of wavelengths and frequencies as the situation deteriorates.

A CB radio system is an obvious choice for an alternative method of communication. You can search different channels to see if other people are broadcasting, then converse for information on events. Also have a copy of Morse Code so if you receive a message in it you will know what it says.

The golden rule of post doomsday events is "DO NOT REVEAL YOUR LOCATION!" Simply put, don't trust anyone, no matter what they say.

How to Survive Doomsday Part 7

Fuel:

You will need to decide how you are going to get the two basics after doomsday; heat and light.

For heat, there can be nothing simpler or better than a normal wood burning fire. Stockpile wood beforehand in a wood store attached to your shelter. Also have at least a one month supply inside your shelter.

You will need at least three axes if going down the wood route. Learn how to sharpen an axe beforehand and have the necessary equipment all stored in preparation.

Fire lighting tools are a must. Firelighters, matches, cigarette lighters are all very useful when you need to light a fire. You should easily be able to store a couple of thousand matches, which should last you many years. These need to be stored in three different places. You do not want a leak to get your store of matches wet.

You can also use your fire to cook on. It makes more sense to get a camping stove and store the fuels that you will need for it. It can be set up in the kitchen, just make sure that you store the fuel away from your shelter for safety reasons and perhaps purchase a few fire extinguishers to be safe.

When it comes to light at night you have a range of possibilities. Your wood fire will throw out a lot of light. Candles are cheap, easy to store and last a long time. I would suggest that you have a large range of devices stored together with their appropriate power sources, backed by a very large store of candles. One can never be over prepared, but you could be under prepared.

How to Survive Doomsday Part 6

Health:

During the next few years, your health will be your biggest problem. You can't expect there to ba any form of medical care for you after doomsday.

First, you need start looking after yourself now. If you are not fit, then start to reverse that now. You need to be as fit as possible when the time comes.

Doomsday is no excuse to eat badly. Fruits and vegetables will come in a tin, you need to have a good stock of them and eat them. Also, have good stock of vitamin supplements and take them on a regular basis. Prevention is always better than a cure.

If you take regular medications, then you need to find a way to stock up on them as soon as possible. You might look at the option of purchasing more privately on the internet; but be aware of the legal issues surrounding this option. Your only limit to medical supplies is really based on how much you can store. Also, make sure you know the most common illnesses and how to take care of any injuries. Education is the key.

How To Survive Doomsday Part 5

Vehicle:

You will need a vehicle ready at all times to get you to your location in the shortest possible time. The most suitable vehicle is likely to be a 4x4. They are heavy duty vehicles that aren't going to fall apart if you have a minor scrape in them. There is no sense in having prepared for this moment, having a great location and a fully stocked, comfortable shelter if you can't get there.
Always ensure that your vehicle has enough fuel to reach your location and to keep up with regular vehicle maintenance.
Keep a mini survival kit in a backpack in your vehicle. Always plan for the worst. You may have to ditch your vehicle and continue on foot.
Ensure that you have the maps to your location secured inside your glove box. You should know your route by heart. Practice the drive in all seasons. Know all alternate routes because GPS won't work post doomsday!

How To Survive Doomsday Part 4

Location:

Where you plan to live post doomsday is important and should be researched thoroughly. Where should your shelter be located?
First, it needs to be in a rural location. That is essential, because it must be as far away from a mob as possible. However, you need to be able to get to it in hurry. Ideally, it needs to be around 15 minutes away, at the most 1 hour.
An ideal location will offer your shelter some degree of invisibility.
Second,  your next requirement is it's proximity to water. You need a clean, fresh water supply. Don't make the mistake of being in a flood plain though, it's just suicide. The ideal water source is a spring.
A location in the hills is better than low ground. If you are high up on a hill, chances are you won't be bothered, most people just won't try. They will look for an easier target.
Finally, consider the soil type in your location. The time will come when you will need to grow your own food to survive.
The best way to find your ideal location to sit it all out is to get an official map, a piece of string, and a drawing pen. Stick the pen on your home and then draw three circles. Draw the first circle roughly how far you can travel by car in 15 minutes, the second in half an hour and the third in 1 hour. Begin your search in the 15 minutes circle. If nothing suitable comes up, move to the next circle, and then finally the last circle. Mark down every possible location, then put in the leg work in. Visit the locations to determine the best one.

NEW POISONOUS SPIDER IN THE UNITED STATES

NEW POISONOUS SPIDER IN THE UNITED STATES

A spider bite...please read............ And you thought the brown recluse was bad!

Three women in North Florida, turned up at hospitals over a 5-day period, all with the same symptoms. Fever, chills, and vomiting, followed by muscular collapse, paralysis, and finally, death. There were no outward signs of trauma.

Autopsy results showed toxicity in the blood. These women did not know each other, and seemed to have nothing in common. It was discovered, however, that they had all visited the same Restaurant (Olive Garden) within days of their deaths.
The health department descended on the restaurant, shutting it down. The food, water, and air conditioning were all inspected and tested, to no avail.

The big break came when a waitress at the restaurant was rushed to the hospital with similar symptoms. She told doctors that she had been on vacation, and had only went to the restaurant to pick up her check. She did not eat or drink while she was there, but had used the restroom.

That is when one toxicologist, remembering an article he had read, drove out to the restaurant, went into the restroom, and lifted the toilet seat.
Under the seat, out of normal view, was a small spider.

The spider was captured and brought back to the lab, where it was determined to be the Two-Striped Telamonia (Telamonia dimidiata), so named because of its reddened flesh color. This spider's venom is extremely toxic, but can take several days to take effect. They live in cold, dark, damp climates, and toilet rims provide just the right atmosphere.
Several days later a lawyer from Jacksonville showed up at a hospital emergency room. Before his death, he told the doctor, that he had been away on business, had taken a flight from Indonesia, changing planes in Singapore, before returning home.
He did not visit (Olive Garden), while there. He did, as did all of the other victims, have what was determined to be a puncture wound, on his right buttock.
Investigators discovered that the flight he was on had originated in India.
The Civilian Aeronautics Board (CAB) ordered an immediate inspection of the toilets of all flights from India, and discovered the Two-Striped Telamonia (Telamonia dimidiata) spider's nests on 4 different planes!
It is now believed that these spiders can be anywhere in the country. So please, before you use a public toilet, lift the seat to check for spiders. It can save your life!
And please pass this on to everyone you care about.

How to Survive Doomsday Part 3

SHELTER:

You will need a shelter of one form or another to live in after the doomsday event.
You may have planned to live in your own home post doomsday, however, if your house is anywhere remotely urban, this is not a good idea.
Living in a tent is not an ideal solution. You will be too open and not secure. Not to mention you will be unable to store all the necessary items that you need. Also, a tent will not protect you indefinitely from different types of weather.
Ideally you need some form of secret hideaway as far away from people as you can. It needs to be big enough to have everything that you need stored away. Your shelter needs to be easily heated, ideally with two options for heat.
Finally, it needs to be as secure as possible.
Obviously, the ideal shelter to sit out any doomsday event is a bunker. But, building your own bunker is EXPENSIVE.
Whatever route that you choose, you need to consider and more importantly put your solution into effect now! Who knows when it will be needed. the sooner you are prepared, the better!

How to Survive Doomsday Part 2

WATER:

After a doomsday event, you should never trust the water supplies, even if it appears to be working normally. Always be safe, NEVER, ever trust the water supply.
Store water in your food store. Even a small supply of soft drinks can be useful when your blood sugar is low and tiredness sets in, especially in the early days. Longlife fruit juices may also be a good idea, they won't give you the health benefits that fresh fruit juices will, but it is often better than nothing.
You really have to  allow 4 liters of fluid per person per day. This allows for cooking, a small amount of washing as well as drinking.
Ultimately, you will need an alternate water source. Your first job will be to filter it to remove any visible particles. Water filtration kits are available to purchase and I recommend that you have a number of quality models in your storage area.
After filtering, the next step is purification. If you don't do this step, you are dooming yourself to death. Never fail to purify water. The best method of purification is boiling at a rolling boil for at least 10 minutes.
The other method of purification is to use a tablet that can be bought online or in camping or an outdoor store. Follow the instructions to the letter. Just be careful with the tablets, once the seal is broken, it does have a shelf life. Remember this though, when it comes to water, if in doubt, boil instead.

How To Survive Doomsday Part 1

FOOD:

This is quite possibly the easiest concept to grasp for any prepper. Food is needed to live. The main problem you will have is there will be no supermarkets, food will no longer come on a shelf.
In the long term, you will need to know how to grow and how to catch your own food. In the first few months of any doomsday even you are going to want to stay hidden, maybe even a few years.
In the event of a doomsday event being predicted, local supermarkets will be wiped out in minutes. So, you need to prepare now. You should aim for a minimum of a year's supply of food for yourself and your family. Ideally, two years is better.
This will take considerable thought as to how much food you would actually need for an entire year. Sit down and work out the numbers on paper for your own particular situation. Also keep in mind that you clearly can't store fresh food or frozen food for that matter. It is far easier to store dry and canned food.
The obvious starting points are carbohydrates. Grains and pastas will become the bulk of your food supply. Keep the goods in the bags they are purchased in, they will last far longer than if the package is opened up and exposed to the air. NEVER store any food on the floor at all.
You can find five gallon food grade buckets and mylar bags for your grains and pastas to be put in and sealed with an oxygen absorber inside. Sometimes you can find these buckets for free from bakeries and other places. Just make sure no chemicals have been in them. You can also buy them for a few dollars from Lowe's or other home improvement stores.
Next look at canned goods. It lasts for years and still tastes good when you open it. Think about your nutritional needs. You will need protein, fats and vitamins and minerals.
Meat, fish, fruits and veggies can all be supplied by canned goods.
After carbs and canned goods there are extras to think about. You will need a wide variety of sauces, condiments and spices. Also, you need to think about instant coffee, hot chocolate, tea bags and powdered milk. Soups are another excellent choice, they are filling and easy to cook.
You may also consider stocking a range of dried fruits and nuts. You will also need to store sugar, flour and dried herbs.
Also make sure that you have several can openers (at least 10) and make sure they are all different models. They will get blunt quickly. It never hurts to be prepared.

Storing Water for Emergency Use

You must store water in suitable containers and put it in correct locations in your home. Water is best stored in a dark room or in heavy cardboard boxes to keep the light out. Store in several locations so you can get to it easily.

Containers to Use: Make sure all containers are food grade and have never held chemicals or poisons.

Heavy Plastic - you can reuse 2 liter soda bottles, gatorade bottles, also apple juice and cranberry juice bottles are great.  It is recommended to have a three month supply of water if possible. That's 180 gallons of water per person.

You can use bottled water. Bulk bottled water can be purchased through some companies. Generally it is far too expensive to store in quantity.

Bleach bottles - stored water in these can be used for cleaning or washing hands. Label it clearly with a black marker, but keep away from children. These can also be used as emergency flush water for your toilet if your toilet breaks or your water supply gets broken.

Polyethylene Barrels - available in several sizes.

Glass containers - drinking water can be stored in quart sized jars sealed by the water bath canning method. Pint jars require 20 minutes boiling time, quart size require 25 minutes and half gallon jars require 30 minutes.

DO NOT USE MILK JUGS TO STORE WATER!!! The plastic is not thick enough and since it has been run through other types of storage, it makes the plastic weak.

     Supplemental Sources of Water:

The water in your hot water heater is available to use, if necessary. Also the water in the tank (NOT THE BOWL!) of the toilet can be scooped out and used.

Liquid for drinking can be obtained from canned fruits, juices, vegetables and soft drinks.

You can also use melted snow or rain water if you have a collection barrel. (Disinfect by boiling for 5 minutes before drinking it.)

Lakes, Streams, ponds, rivers and even ditches can be used if treated with a sanitizing method.

Make sure that you check your water supply occasionally for cloudiness and leakage.

Economics of Long Term Emergency Storage

When it comes to long term emergency storage, you must keep in mind that your storage plan must be personalized for you and your family.

Do not store in out of the way places.

A practical plan is to use what you store, store what you use. This plan involves simply storing extra amounts of item your family is already consuming, using the oldest items before they expire and rotating the new items into storage.

Your home grocery store will be to you all the necessary food, water, bedding, clothing, fuel, cooking equipment, and medical supplies to sustain life for a minimum of three months to one year.

A practical food storage plan will be nutritious, comprehensive, and tailored to your family.

You can store a variety of grains, flour, rice, noodles, evaporated milk, beans, peas, canned meats, tuna, soups of all kinds, all baking items, shortening, oil, peanut butter, jams, syrups, salad dressings, mayonnaise, gelatin, cocoa, bottled water, bottled and canned fruits and veggies, and many other dehydrated products.

Keep in mind that improper planning leads to waste.

Every time you go to the grocery store, get two of each item you normally buy. Put one away, use the other.

Stash some cash for emergencies. You will need a three month supply of cash, minimum. To find out how much you actually need, budget everything you pay monthly then times that amount by three.

Don't put emergency fund money in the bank. But, be sure you have the correct change. If times are tough and the economy fails, you won't have ready access to it. Put your cash stash away in a fireproof safe. 1/3 should be coins, 1/3 should be small bills (under $20), and 1/3 should be $20 and $50 bills. You can also put some silver and gold coins away in case regular currency loses its value.

Get out of debt and stay out of debt.

Try to increase your income, decrease your spending, or some of each.

This will bring you great peace of mind.

How to Make Your Own Pepper Spray

To make 100ml of pepper spray, follow the directions below.

1. Get 100g of hot chili powder, and 200ml of ethanol.

2. Mix the two together in a container.

3. Run the mixture through a sieve to make sure there's no solid chili powder left, and then put it in a stove burner safe container.

4. Put your container on the burner until the ethanol boils and evaporates. You'll have an orange solution of waxy consistency left.

5. Now add 20ml of baby oil. (Depending on the type of chili powder. Because consistencies can vary, make sure that you have a viscous liquid.)

6. Now you can put it in a bottle. You can buy spray bottles at any store, or buy self-aerolizing bottles online for a professional solution.

     Pepper Spray Antidotes:

1. Whole milk is considered very effective as an antidote. Simply wash the affected area (or submerge it) in the whole milk and it will help to wash away the pepper spray. This will alleviate the pain but will not break down the oil itself which causes the burn in the first place.

2. Pepper-Spray-store.com says a recipe of 25% Dawn and 75% water can be used to break down the oil, which is the actual cause of the burn.

Brown Recluse Spider

Brown Recluse Spider

The Brown Recluse Spider is Extremely Dangerous. This spider contains 9 poisons, similar to rattlesnake venom. Self Treatment - Stage 1 - If you've been bitten by this spider (or any spider), the 1st thing you should do is apply activated charcoal directly to wound (keep in medicine cabinet for poison emergencies). You can find it in capsules sold at health food stores, or you can buy it in the aquarium dept. of a grocery store. Charcoal must be finely ground before it's used. Apply thick paste to bite area. Then seek immediate medical attention.

10 Important Things that go First in an Emergency

When it comes to any type of disaster, there are a few things that are extremely important to have that will disappear almost immediately. To prepare correctly, these things need to be stocked up on ahead of time. I recommend that you keep a large supply of water, food and survival supplies.

     Things that disappear:

1. Generators -  Keeping your fridge or a heater going can be the difference between basic but uncomfortable survival and a comfortable survival. The fuel can be expensive and hard to store, but worth it.

2. Water and Water Filters or Purifiers -  Water is a MUST HAVE. If the pipes freeze or the water is contaminated, you will need a way to purify it. There are many ways to store water.

3. Portable Toilets - In case the plumbing goes down, you'll need one. These are typically off the shelves in the blink of an eye in an emergency. It's a basic, but it's a very important basic. Sanitation is important. Improper sanitation can make you very ill.

4. Firewood - Especially handy in a power outage. Firewood is extremely important to stay warm. Alternate heat is vital in the colder months and can also be used to cook with.

5. Lamps, Lamp Oil and Wicks - Safer than candles and lasts longer. Great source of light when you are without power.

6. (Coleman) Emergency Stove and Fuel - Store a large amount of fuel. We use more than we realize. The more you have the better.

7. Protection: Knives, Pepper Spray, Clubs, Guns and Ammunition - In an emergency, we can become very vulnerable. Make sure that you have everything you need to protect yourself and your family before disaster strikes.

8. Can Openers and Egg Beaters - These are important in order for you to eat your perishable supply before it goes bad.

9. Sugar, Honey and Syrup - The sweet tooth prevails and is usually the first thing to go. These can help you keep your energy up.

10. Grains, Beans and Rice - These components are difficult to prepare and can spoil quickly. Find meals that simply require water. You'll be glad you did.

When putting together your emergency supply, keep these things in mind so you aren't empty handed in a crisis.

Changing things up a bit

Hey everyone! I thought I would let people know that I am changing things up a bit. I will still be doing things like product reviews and such, but I am also going to be writing about prepping and other things that can be done to get ready for when the SHTF. Which I am very sure it will. I will be giving out ideas and ways to do things that might help you prepare for what is coming. I have been working on it slowly myself and learning as I go. I hope that this finds everyone in good health. Thanks to all of you.
