Another Year with the Chickens

     It's been a little over a year now with the chickens. We started out with seven hens, two roosters and a duck. We decided to butcher one of the roosters since he was mean and attacking the hens and the duck repeatedly. Recently we sold the duck and the other rooster. The duck was ripping the feathers out of the hens and we didn't understand why. So now we are down to just the hens. Which is fine with me, I really didn't like the duck and the roosters

We have been getting seven eggs a day, even through the winter months. For a family of four, that's plenty. We are overly stocked with eggs and I have started boiling some of them every couple of weeks. I have sold some of the eggs on occasion, and was able to get a decent price for them. I have got the hens trained to my voice. All I have to do is call for them and they come running. Getting chickens again was an excellent choice and they have well paid for themselves in eggs.
